My first time shopping...
for maternity clothes was this weekend. And let me tell ya, my experience was AWESOME! Hubby and I decided it was time to go get me my first maternity outfit. I'm squeezing into my pants now. And now I just look fat because they dig into my belly and my waist. Lately, I live in my pj's or workout clothes. LOL Because they're stretchy ya know? But that's not cute to wear when your hubby wants to take you out to eat a nice dinner! LOL I will admit I have dressed in my workout clothes when we went out for dinner but I really had no other choice. haha! It's all good... I could care less what people think. I got a baby in the oven... =)
Anyway... we decided to go to this one store called, "Destination Maternity". We'd seen it along the freeway for a long time. Even before I WAS pregnant and I always thought, "I wonder what that is? pfffrrrrttt... I'll probably never get to shop there... " And look at me now! God blessed us and that was the place we went to shopping for maternity clothes. When we first got there, I had to go Peeeee really baddddddddd... Pregnant ladies have to pee about 100 times a day! haha. Ok, well maybe not that many times but it sure feels like it! I told my Hubby, "They HAVE to have bathrooms in there! it's a store for pregnant women! I'd be shocked if they don't!" And as soon as we walked in, this girl working there walked to the door to greet us and offered us something to drink. "Water or Juice?", she asked. LOL I was shocked! WOW. That's a first! When do you walk into a store and they ask you if you want something to drink!? haha. I kindly refused but asked if they had any restrooms there. She smiled and led me to them. *sigh* What a relief that was! I emptied my bladder and by the time I got out, hubby had a few outfits picked out for me already! hahaha. That was cute... I tried on almost all his choices. He knows me too well but a few I knew wouldn't fit right.
I ended up taking an outfit that he picked out. I love it! It's some comfy jeans which I can wear as I get farther along and I get a bigger belly and a cute summery, white tank top. He also found a little calendar type book for me to keep track of my doctor's appointment stuff, like ultrasounds, tests, etc. Very cute! We took that too. The store is like disney world for pregnant ladies. They offer free classes too to pregnant couples. We might have to look into that. They looked interesting. They have everything from maternity clothers, undergarments, sleepwear, lotions, books and even nutrition bars! All specifically made for women! I bought a nutrition bar called, "Belly Bar". Delicious! We found them online and plan to buy me a box to snack on. =)
Anyway... it was awesome shopping for maternity clothes for the first time. I didn't realize how expensive maternity
clothes were but I also didn't realize how cute maternity clothes CAN be. They had bathing suits there too. Once out base pool opens up, I'll have to go buy me one! *hehehe* After shopping there, we headed to the big mall to get some stuff at bath & body works... Hubby needed some new running shoes and I had run out of my favorite perfume so we stopped at Sephora to get a bottle. OMG... I love this perfume... smells just like baby... =)

With my first pregnancy we were fairly broke. I ended up with a lot of borrowed maternity clothes. It really helped that I didn't get big or need new/different clothes until I was about six months along. But, oh, how I wanted to wear maternity clothes! My whole life I wanted to be pregnant and wear cute pg clothes. heh, I ended up with only a couple of my very own outfits to wear.
When I was pg with Samuel though; we were a little better off and I was out of regular clothes by the time 8-9 weeks came along. I was finally able to get the cute clothes I'd wanted my whole life. People kept telling me I'd get sick of wearing them. (I never had that opportunity.) BUT...Motherhood Maternity is where I got my clothes with Samuel, and they were not expenisive at all!
Sounds like you had a ton of fun. Congratulations on the new cute maternity stuff and the perfume! yay!! OH, and hubby's good taste in outfits for you...that's a good thing, too.
did you want my Pregnancy Week to Week book?
I Love Eeyore: I got some blouses from my sister too. They're nice and very comfy! And my sister has good taste. *hehe* Second hand clothes aren't bad at all... saves money! I want to go check those second hand shops to see if they sell any maternity clothes there. Like a Thrift shop maybe? I'll let you know if I found anything there. I can't wait to wear maternity clothes either... with my big belly! I'm not showing a whole lot right now. I'm in that stage where if people look at me they wonder, "Has she just gained weight and gotten fat or is she pregnant? Either or!" LOL
Suni: yeah, I have a feeling it's gonna be the same for me. I can feel my bulge and stuff,, but it's not VERY VERY visible to people unless they've known me for ever and know that the bulge is not normal. But to others I probably just look like I have a fat belly! LOL Oh and yeah! That'd be so cool! Thank you! I'll PM you. *hugs*
I didn't really shop that much for maternity clothes either time I was pregnant. With my Daughter, I was still in high school and didn't want to look pregnant. Luckily I didn't start showing until after my 5th month and spent most of my "bigger" months at home during the summer ... and then on bed rest for the last month. (Toxemia is bad !!)
With my son, I got super duper lucky b/c two of my friends had just had babies and I got all of their hand me downs. I didn't mind borrowing maternity clothes at all ... it's not like they get that much wear anyway. A couple of months worth and then your done :)
Can't wait to see pictures of your cute new clothes. Exciting !!
To this day I am only 10 lbs heavier than before I got preggie...Pre preggie 175, post preggie, ten lbs more than that! LOL
How exciting! We had crap maternity clothes here when I wa pregnant and now the stuff is soo much nicer... you Americans do know how to do customer service, we have nothing like that here!! (Not that I have seen anyway!)
Be careful buying maternity clothes! warning! they are very expensive. LOL i bought my outfit i had planned on wearing for my baby shower at a maternity store, i bought a pair of jeans and a nice knit pink sweater, which you shall be getting in the mail soon i hope anyway...i wound up paying 90 dollars! If you wanna look for 2nd hand clothes for yourself, i reccomend looking into a 2nd hand baby store. there are tons here hopefully there is one in your area. These stores specialize in 2nd hand baby stuff ONLYincluding maternity clothes. you should check it out. I still have some maternity tanks i need to send you. i have 3 and i have some army green capris and black ones and denim and some white ones, also i have 2 shorts(khaki). clothes is heavy but i will get around to sending them to you. Most of all the stuff i wore ALL year long was 2nd hand i bought myself a few items. I also had to buy black work pants which Oscar bought me htat set him back 40 dollars! I'm gonna try to mail you the tanks asap.

JennaPoo:That's awesome that you didn't gain that much weight. I haven't gained that much weight yet. But I'm bearly creeping into my 4th month [2nd Trimester] so we'll see in the end... I'm trying not to pig out. I notice that I'm going back to that phase again where I eat a few bites of food and i'm full... but I do have to eat every 3 hrs or so. So it evens out. I also don't buy chips, soda, cookies and stuff like that. I treated myself when we went shopping and bought me some Popsicles. The type that have that vanilla cream filling? Good stuff! =)
Mayra & Little Miao: Thanks! =)
Jodi: Awww man, that bites! =(
Mikki: I haven't looked on ebay! Good idea! Old Navy has good stuff too, but I haven't made my way around there yet. I'll have to check it out next time we can afford to go shopping. LOL
Karen: Sista! I'm so glad you left me a comment! They make my day... I miss you! Oh, and yeah, they ARE expensive. The stuff I got was on clearance and even then we spent a good 60 bucks with tax and all... eeck! So I wouldn't say we'll be doing frequent shopping like that unless NEEDED but it was nice to get something nice to wear because going out in sweats or tight jeans isn't fun anymore. I can't wait to get your other maternity clothes. It makes me feel close to you even though that may sound weird... LOL But yeah... oh and about wearing a bra at night... I know! I already am. Joe asks me why I sleep with my sports bra and I ask him it's to keep my boobies in place because they hurt when they're free! hahaha The breast soreness went away for a little while but now it's back... so good tip! Thanks for the reminder. =) Did you talk to Andrea? About us "maybe" driving over there? I'll call you later this week. Give all my love to your cutie! LOVE YOU!!!! xoxo
Sarah: Oh, I know right? I was a bit shocked like, "Did I just hear what I think she just said???" LOL Very neat, indeed. And the Belly Bar? DELICIOUS! I liked it because it doesn't take like most nutrition bars... like VITAMINS! Yuck... these taste good. =)
Suni: haha. Genius! I could so use one of those right now! Because it's just my waist and belly expanding right now... I'll have to look into those... =) Thanks for the link da'lin!
